As a Special Education Teacher and a grandmother I found the DVD “Can you sound like me?” to be an invaluable resource for children’s learning and entertainment. At an entertainment level children will enjoy the simplicity and interactive format of the DVD. At an educational level this DVD will promote and reinforce learning readiness and language development for a broad range of children. For the purpose of skill development this DVD is carefully graded and paced to accommodate a range of developmental readiness and ability. A must for all families of toddler and pre-school aged children. Filling a gap in the Early Years market. Well Done Kath!

Just wanted to let you know how much our 3 year old twins love your DVD, our son has autism but is a very visual learner and has memorised all of your songs and when he wasn’t comfortable saying goodbye to people he would sing them your goodbye song! We also made ribbon sticks and they both sing along with you copying your actions. I have a son on the autism spectrum, and he was really engaged by watching this DVD! The language and play skill principals used in this video are similar to what our private speech therapist has used. It appeals to both parents and kids by incorporating simple movements and animations without too much sensory overload like other children’s videos I have seen. I would highly recommend this DVD as a teaching tool for children with developmental delays!

We have four young children aged between 4 and 11 years. Although we bought the DVD for our youngest, who has special needs, all the children thought the DVD was great fun, funny and learned the songs in no time. In particular, our youngest was asking to watch it each morning in preference to her usual dose of her favourite TV series. All the songs relate to things young children are familiar with and enjoy such as animals, daily routines etc. As parents, we found the DVD to be very original and engaging for the children (and ourselves). The DVD is presented at a pace that young children with language difficulties can process and respond to. It’s great to have another tool to assist the development of our child’s language. “Can you sound like me?” is a favourite with us all. Those of you who know the song will understand why! We sincerely hope there is more to come.

Hi Kath. I have a active four year old daughter and a two year old boy with Down Syndrome, they both love the songs. Josh my son can not speak , but we find through music and slow mouthing actions he is responding and making sounds. His whole face lights up when I show him the cover . 1day a week I have four kids in the house all under 4, they all get up sing and do the actions. You have a wonderful way of connecting with the kids and keeping there attention. I have not found this with any other main stream DVDs.

Kath Keiper a paediatric speech pathologist has recognised that music is a powerful medium that can be used to enhance the development of language, cognitive development and to help activate auditory processing especially in young children.Young children have practised counting, rhyme and speech through singing for many generations. Children are able to learn their language effortlessly through listening, imitation and repetition. This concept is supported by many music educators around the world, and frequently highlighted in the philosophy and musical methods of Suzuki and Kodaly. Kath has provided tremendous support for these concepts using songs with creative and playful language and clear, careful speech reinforcements that are easy for young children to follow. The songs from the DVD are also very catchy, easy to sing and use fun actions that can be used for early year’s music programs. Whether sung with the DVD or lead by a class teacher or parent, young children thoroughly enjoy singing along and performing the actions to Kath’s songs which encourage active participation for both group and individual performers. It is wonderful that Kath has created a resource that supports a junior cross-curricular program using modern, creative songs along with exciting visuals to prompt children to actively interact with the content of the program.
